Article Directory

So why should you submit your article to a directory…or better yet, what is a directory? In internet marketing terms an article directory is a place where multiple authors submit their articles. The articles are then categorized according to their content (home and family, business, how to, etc.).

The sheer mass of articles then helps the search engine page rank of the article site and can increase the chances that your article will be indexed. But, all article sites are not created equal!

There are some great article directories out there. The ones that tend to rank the highest with search engines require that a human editor review your article prior to posting AND they often do not allow you to post a link directly to affiliate sales in your resource box.

Some things to watch for when submitting to these sites include
Have enough content to make them happy. You should shoot for at least 800 words.
Make sure your content is pertinent to your title and that there is no blatant advertising in it.
DO NOT submit duplicate content to these sites – they check!
Make sure not to link directly to an affiliate program. Instead link to a website or blog and then link to your affiliate link from there.

So what if the article directory is not so great, at least you are getting a link…right? Well if you submit your article to ten article directories and only one or two are good and currently getting indexed by the search engines, that is an awful lot of work for very little return! If you are not going to submit to a high level directory I recommend using a submitter service so that you can submit to HUNDREDS of directories all at once!
